Mobile app · Field services
A job-management app that lets technicians see today's route, capture photos and signatures, and close work orders without signal.
Concept project — no real client. Created to show how we would approach this kind of product.
Overview
Fieldline imagines a maintenance company with twenty technicians who receive jobs by phone call and report back on paper. The concept replaces that loop with a mobile app for technicians and a simple dashboard for dispatchers.
The problem
Technicians work in basements, plant rooms, and new estates with poor signal. Paper job sheets arrive at the office days later, invoices are delayed, and dispatchers can't see who is free to take an urgent call.
Our solution
An offline-first mobile app keeps each technician's jobs, customer notes, and forms on the device and syncs when a connection returns. Dispatchers assign and re-order jobs from a web dashboard and see status changes as soon as they sync.
User journey
The technician opens the app and sees today's jobs in route order, with the first address ready for navigation.
One tap marks the job as started and shows equipment history and the customer's notes.
Checklists, photos, and parts used are captured — even with no signal.
The customer signs on screen and receives a summary by email once the phone syncs.
The dispatcher sees the job closed and the report is ready for invoicing.

Key features
Jobs, forms, and photos are stored locally and synced safely later.
Jobs are ordered by the dispatcher and open directly in the phone's maps app.
Before-and-after photos are attached to the right job and compressed for upload.
Customer sign-off is captured on the device with a timestamp.
A web view of every technician's day, with drag-to-reassign.
Parts used are recorded per job to simplify invoicing and restocking.
Approach
Designed for gloves, glare, and one-handed use: large tap targets, high-contrast status colours, and no more than three taps to close a job.
A single Flutter codebase for iOS and Android with a local database and a sync queue. Firebase provides authentication, storage, and functions for notifications.
More work

An operations dashboard that unifies orders, stock, and invoices so a growing distributor can stop reconciling spreadsheets.
An AI intake flow that reads incoming documents, extracts key fields, and routes each case to the right reviewer for confirmation.
